The Offspring’s Noodles Steps Away From Live Shows Over ‘Sudden and Fairly Serious’ Health Issue

The Offspring will be playing their next shows without one of the men who has been there since the very beginning. Guitarist Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman announced on October 21 that he is stepping away from live performances to deal with what he called a “sudden and fairly serious health issue.” He did not say what the problem is.

The statement went out on the band’s social media channels and was quickly picked up by Consequence, Loudwire, Blabbermouth and Vice.

    What Noodles said

The message was short and, by design, light on detail. According to Loudwire, Noodles told fans he needs to step away “for a while” to take care of the issue. He said the rest of the band supports the decision and will keep performing while he is out, and that he hopes to be back on stage “sooner rather than later.” He closed by thanking fans for their support.

He did not describe the condition, give a timeline, or say whether he would still be involved in the band’s work away from the stage. Out of respect for his privacy, that is where the facts end, and any guesswork about the nature of the problem is exactly that.

What is clear is how suddenly it came on. Blabbermouth reports that his most recent show with the band was at Mission Bayfest in San Diego on October 18, just three days before the announcement.

    A founding fixture

It is hard to picture The Offspring without Noodles. Born in Los Angeles in 1963, he was invited into the band by singer Dexter Holland in its earliest days, when the group was still known as Manic Subsidal. As Vice notes, the band had settled on the name The Offspring by 1986. Famously, Noodles was working as a janitor at an elementary school in Garden Grove, California, during those early years, long before the band broke through.

That breakthrough came with 1994’s Smash, the record that took “Come Out and Play” and “Self Esteem” onto mainstream radio and MTV and turned a Southern California punk band into a global act. Hits like “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)” and “The Kids Aren’t Alright” followed. According to Blabbermouth, the band has now released ten studio albums and sold more than 40 million records worldwide.

Through every lineup change, Holland and Noodles have been the constant. The current lineup is completed by Todd Morse, Brandon Pertzborn and Jonah Nimoy, but Holland and Noodles are the two who have been there from the start. Noodles’ grin, glasses and spiky hair have been a fixture at stage left at practically every Offspring show for nearly four decades, which is why this announcement landed so hard with fans.

    Which shows are affected

The band says it will keep its commitments, so the dates stand, just without Noodles. Here the reports differ slightly.

    Blabbermouth lists four upcoming appearances:

    • October 24, 2026: the Rock 2 Freedom benefit at The Wiltern, Los Angeles
    • November 6, 2026: SEMA Fest, Las Vegas
    • November 21, 2026: Corona Capital festival, Mexico City
    • January 16, 2027: iHeartRadio ALTer Ego

Vice lists only the first three, while Loudwire describes the run as the Los Angeles show, two dates in November and one in January, which matches Blabbermouth’s list.

None of the outlets reported who will cover Noodles’ parts. At the time of these reports, the band had not named a fill-in or said how they would handle the gap on stage.

    What happens next

For now, the next milestone is Saturday night at The Wiltern, the band’s first show since the announcement and the first test of how they sound without him. After that, the band has a few weeks before Las Vegas and Mexico City, and a long gap before the January radio show. That gives the guitarist some breathing room before the band’s 2027 schedule starts in earnest.

Noodles has asked for patience rather than attention, and he has given no indication of how long he will be out. The most anyone can say is what he said himself: he hopes to be back soon. Plenty of fans will be hoping for the same thing, and for news of how he is doing when he is ready to share it.
