How Much Does Guitar Tricks Cost in 2026? Every Plan, Explained

Prices checked 7 November 2026 by the KYI Team.

    The short answer

Guitar Tricks Full Access costs $29.95 a month or $179 a year. The annual plan works out to $14.92 a month, half the monthly rate, and it is the plan almost everyone should buy. Both include everything: all 11,000+ lessons, every song lesson, the apps, the toolbox and instructor video feedback. There is a 14-day free trial and a 60-day money-back guarantee. With the code SAVE20 the annual plan drops to $143.20, and a few times a year Guitar Tricks sells a year for $99 (it is doing so now, for Black Friday 2026). Prices are in US dollars wherever you are.

Guitar Tricks plans and prices (November 2026)

    Plan Price Per month Billing
Full Access, monthly $29.95 $29.95 Charged on your sign-up date every month until you cancel
Full Access, annual $179 $14.92 One payment, renews on the same date next year
Full Access, annual with SAVE20 $143.20 $11.93 Code applied at checkout via this link
Full Access, $99 promotion $99 $8.25 Seasonal (Black Friday, summer, Labor Day). Current status
Free trial $0 14 days of Full Access; a card is taken at sign-up and the trial converts to monthly on day 15 unless you cancel
Basic account Free 24 lessons, the tuner and the metronome; what your account becomes if you cancel
Gift certificate Shown on the gift page 3, 6 or 12 months of Full Access, does not auto-renew. Gift certificates

Guitar Tricks also sells three cut-down options that it does not advertise on its pricing page: Core Access (the Core Learning System and skills library without the song library), Song Access (the song library without the courses) and a one-off purchase of the Fundamentals 1 course. They appear at checkout rather than on the pricing page. We do not recommend any of them: the song library is the best reason to subscribe, and Fundamentals 1 on its own leaves you stranded after the first few weeks.

What is included in Full Access

Every Full Access plan above includes the same things:

    • The Core Learning System: Guitar Fundamentals 1 and 2, the step-by-step beginner course
    • Four full style courses: Blues, Rock, Country and Acoustic, each at two levels
    • Lessons in 12 further styles, plus Artist Studies, gear and tone, techniques, chords and scales
    • More than 1,000 song lessons broken into parts, with scrolling notation, tab, speed control, looping and jam tracks
    • Tab and notation on every one of the 11,000+ video lessons, with multiple camera angles
    • The Toolbox: tuner, metronome, chord and scale finder, fretboard map, jam-track station
    • Practice Streaks, lesson history and progress tracking
    • Guitar Insider, a weekly video in which Anders Mouridsen answers members’ questions
    • The Feedback System: submit a video of your playing and an instructor replies with a private video
    • The forum, where you can ask instructors questions
    • iOS and Android apps with the full library

What costs extra: a Custom Lesson Plan is $39 (a four-week plan written by instructor Dave Celentano after a questionnaire), live 1-on-1 lessons over Zoom are booked and paid per session, and a Beginner Bootcamp is offered as an add-on at checkout.

    Monthly or annual: the maths

If you will use it for Monthly costs Annual costs Annual with SAVE20
    3 months $89.85 $179 $143.20
    6 months $179.70 $179 $143.20
    12 months $359.40 $179 $143.20

Monthly only wins if you will quit inside five months. Learning guitar from scratch takes longer than that, and the annual plan is covered by the 60-day money-back guarantee, so the risk of paying annually is small. If you are not sure, use the free trial first.

How Guitar Tricks compares on price

Checked on each platform’s own site on 7 November 2026.

    Platform Monthly Annual Trial
    Guitar Tricks $29.95 $179 ($143.20 with SAVE20) 14 days
    Pickup Music $29.99 $179.99 14 days
TrueFire All Access (includes JamPlay) $29 (sold through jamplay.com) $249.99 list; $77.88 on sale at truefire.com when checked, $99 through jamplay.com 7 days (14 days through jamplay.com)
Fender Play $19.99 $149.99 7 days monthly, 14 days annual
Yousician Premium+ $29.99 $139.99 on the website; more through the app stores 7 days
JustinGuitar Website free; app from $8.99 App from $64.99 to $129.99 depending on tier Free
ArtistWorks From about $20 per school $115.13 (Standard) or $172.73 (Premium) on the current sale 7 days

At list price Guitar Tricks sits in the middle. It is not the cheapest way to learn guitar online (JustinGuitar’s website is free), but for a structured course with song lessons and included feedback it is priced the same as Pickup Music and well under TrueFire’s list price. Full head-to-heads: vs JamPlay, vs TrueFire, vs Fender Play, vs JustinGuitar, vs Yousician, vs Pickup Music.

    Guitar Tricks price history

Guitar Tricks has raised its monthly price twice in four years while leaving the annual price alone. The figures come from our own records of what new members paid each year:

    Year Monthly Annual
    2022 $14.95 $179 (promotional $99 some months)
    2023 to 2024 $19.95 $179
    2025 to 2026 $29.95 $179

The lesson is that the annual plan has become relatively cheaper every year, and if you see a review quoting “$20 a month”, it is out of date.

    How to pay less

    1. Take the $99 sale when it is on. Guitar Tricks ran it in July and September 2026 and is running it now for Black Friday. Our coupon page tracks whether it is live.
    2. Otherwise use SAVE20 on the annual plan. $143.20 instead of $179. Link with the code applied.
    3. Do not pay monthly for more than a few months. See the table above.
    4. Use the trial properly. Finish the first chapters of Fundamentals 1 inside the 14 days so you are paying for something you already know you will use.

    Billing, renewal and cancelling

    • Monthly: you are charged on the day you sign up and on that date each month. Sign up on the 20th, you are billed on the 20th.
    • Annual: one charge, then automatic renewal on the same date a year later (sign up on 10 September 2026, renew 10 September 2027).
    • Cancelling: on the website, click your user icon, open Billing & Settings, choose Cancel Billing and confirm. Monthly plans can be paused instead of cancelled; annual plans cannot. Monthly plans run to the end of the paid month; cancel an annual plan before the renewal date to stop the next charge. If you subscribed through the iOS or Android app, cancel through Apple or Google Play instead.
    • Refunds: 60-day money-back guarantee on paid plans. Contact Guitar Tricks support within 60 days of paying. Purchases made through the Apple App Store are refunded by Apple.
    • Currency: Guitar Tricks bills in US dollars; your bank sets the exchange rate and any foreign transaction fee.

Is Guitar Tricks worth the price?

For a beginner, yes. One in-person lesson costs $25 to $50 in most of the US and the UK; a year of Guitar Tricks costs less than four of them and gives you a complete beginner course, four style courses, instructor feedback and a song library you will use for years. For an intermediate player who wants depth in jazz or improvisation, the honest answer is that TrueFire gives you more for similar money. Our full review explains who it is for.
