Ozzy Osbourne’s Last Words to Kelly, Three Days Before He Died

Kelly Osbourne has described the conversation she had with her father roughly three days before he died — and her account suggests Ozzy Osbourne knew precisely what was coming.

Speaking to Paul C. Brunson on the We Need To Talk podcast, released on Tuesday (15 September), Kelly said her father sat her down for a talk she did not fully understand at the time. “He said, ‘I need you to know something… No matter what happens in this life, you can live the rest of your life knowing that there was one man on this planet that truly loved you for every single thing that you are. And that man is me’,” she recounted to Brunson.

She said she started crying and asked him to stop. In Tyla’s account of the episode, she told him “please don’t talk like this,” and he replied: “you know, I’m not going to be here forever and I know you struggle with people and believing you are loved. But I love you more than anyone.”

Three days later, he was gone.

Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. His cause of death was given as cardiac arrest, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease also recorded. He left Sharon, his wife of 43 years, and their three children — Aimee, Kelly and Jack.

The show he was warned not to play

Seventeen days before he died, Osbourne performed at Back to the Beginning, the Black Sabbath farewell staged at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. Kelly’s telling of how that show came together is the sharpest new detail in the interview.

She said her father went ahead with it in spite of medical advice that it could kill him. Loudwire attributes that warning specifically to his doctors; Tyla’s version of the same passage says only that he “had been told,” without naming who told him. Either way, Kelly’s position is that he understood the risk and took it anyway.

Her description of his condition by then is unsparing. “He was suffering so much,” she said. “His day-to-day life was insufferable; nobody should have to live like that. To be in so much pain and be unable to walk, and your mind is there, but your body just doesn’t work.”

She credited her mother with making the concert happen at all. “My mum allowed him to die the happiest you’ve ever seen him,” Kelly said. “All he wanted before leaving this planet was one last show one more time… And my mum worked her arse off to make that happen.”

Of the night itself, she was unequivocal: “It was one of the most incredible moments in music history. It outlives Woodstock because it was all the people that got to be who they are because of him come pay tribute to him.” Then, on what followed: “he got to say goodbye, and he got to say thank you. And then he let go.”

    “Everything he warned me of”

What Kelly appears to have concluded, more than a year on, is that the conversation was deliberate — that her father was settling his affairs with her in the only currency that mattered.

“Everything he told me would happen has happened,” she told Brunson. “Everything he warned me of, every person he told me to stay away from, everything.”

It is an unusually specific claim, and she did not elaborate on who he had warned her about. She has been publicly candid about how badly she has coped since — the grief, the weight loss that drew cruel commentary earlier this year, and a sobriety that now stands at eight months. She is also planning a three-part documentary about grief and mental health.

The sister she says she will not speak to again

The same episode produced a second, harder headline. Asked about her eldest sister Aimee, Kelly ruled out any reconciliation.

“I respect [Aimee], I accept her, but we’re different, and that’s OK,” she said, before adding: “If you’re not going to accept me for who I am, and constantly be trying to change me and say horrible things about me, and truly seem to thrive when I’m not doing well, I don’t want you in my life.”

Those are Kelly’s characterizations, and they should be read as such. Aimee has not publicly responded to them. What is documented is that the sisters have been estranged for years, and that Aimee — alone among the children — refused to appear on MTV’s The Osbournes, moving out of the family home at 16 rather than be filmed. She later explained that decision to The Independent in terms of self-protection rather than disdain: “I wanted to protect myself, my parents, my siblings, too.”

Jack Osbourne has said much the same about his own relationship with her, telling the Disrespectfully podcast last year that “we’re not close at all,” while framing Aimee’s choice as an artistic one — she wanted to be taken seriously as a musician and saw reality television as a shortcut. She has since released an album, 2020’s Vacare Adamaré, and a string of singles as ARO.

Kelly’s regret, as she put it, is not really about the feud at all. “It’s one of the hardest things of my life that I never got a big sister,” she said. “I had to learn how to do certain things that a big sister should have taught you on my own. I do have a resentment there.”
